Trying new things
It’s always fun to moving into a new studio space or to reorganize to work toward better productivity which is what I’ve been working on the beginning of this year. Along with the fun of finding a new spot for all your sewing goodies comes the “Where did I put that?” I’ve tried to stay organized in the transition and so far so good, I haven’t lost anything yet!
In the midst of my studio disarray I’m currently working on knitting a bright baby blanket using the Zig and Zag pattern from Debbie Orr and sewing a color splash purse. I guess the dreariness of winter has me craving fun colors to work with. Part of the fun of a new project for me is choosing what colors to use. I know I have my favorites I like to work with and I’m always intrigued how black can really make certain colors stand out.
This past week I was able to learn a new technique at one of my quilting groups called wonky letters. This may not seem challenging but for those of us who love our rulers it was a new experience. I was able to create two different letters and I did not use my ruler once! It was a freeing experience in creativity using the techniques of Tonya Ricucci and one I am definitely going to try again.
